From wastewater to 100% feed water

A vibrating screen as an innovative solution

All nurseries produce wastewater, which is often treated using traditional filters, such as sand filters. A vibrating screen filters the solids out of this wastewater, so that growers can reuse the cleaned wastewater as feed water. Companies regularly come to BÈTA industrie asking how to make their water recycling system better meet increasingly strict laws and regulations.

Optimised filtration system

One of the companies that came to BÈTA industrie with this very question was the Zeurniet nursery. They had invested in a water recycling system back in 2016. While it did deliver the water savings they had in mind, they also noticed that the system was still very cost-intensive when it came to discharging wastewater. BÈTA industrie subsequently tested various filtration systems for the company and eventually concluded that an AMKCO vibrating screen would be the best option for Zeurniet. Now the Zeurniet nursery has an optimised, cost-effective and environmentally friendly system. And they have reduced the amount of water they discharge by 100%. With this new system, the nursery is well ahead of the curve on the upcoming legislative change. Meanwhile, inspired by growing market demand, BÈTA industrie and AMKCO Europe have entered into a successful partnership to boost water reuse and reduce the costs involved.

Horticultural filter without nutrient loss

BÈTA industrie has launched a horticultural filter that eliminates solids from nurseries’ wastewater without losing any of the (plant) nutrients in the water. The BÈTA filter separates the contaminated water into a solid mass that can be discharged and clean water that can immediately be reused. Depending on the level of contamination, required capacity and algae content, a machine is selected with a filter rating of between 20 and 40 microns. The filter’s low energy consumption (0.25 – 1.8 kW), low maintenance and production costs, and the quality of the recycled water add up to a highly attractive payback proposition. Less contamination, more reuse, lower costs and less time! This is how a water recycling system with a horticultural filter delivers a real win-win situation!
